2018 BIAC London Summit on Commercial Dispute Resolution in China, 20 June 2018

On 20 June 2018, the “2018 London Summit on Commercial Dispute Resolution in China” was organized by Beijing Arbitration Commission and Beijing International Arbitration Center (BAC/BIAC), the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), the School of International Arbitration (SIA), Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, School of Advanced Study, University of London (IALS). This annual event was based on the Report: Commercial Dispute Resolution in China: An Annual Review and Preview (2018) and followed a series of BAC/BIAC Summits in Paris, Hague, Frankfurt, Cologne, Zurich, Vienna, Hong Kong, etc., all meant to present reviews on commercial disputes revolutions in China on annual basis.

CRCICA Director delivered the opening speech of the conference in which he shed light on the strong relation between the CRCICA and BIAC. Further Dr. Selim moderated the first Panel Discussion entitled: “Overview of Arbitration & TPF Practice in the People’s Republic of China (PRC)”. Other sessions focused on commercial mediation practice in China, Chinese Contract Law, latest development in Construction Law and private investment and finance disputes in China. It is worth mentioning that institutional cooperation between CRCICA and BAC/BIAC is traced back to 2017 when both institutions along with the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) (the-then Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre (KLRCA) signed the Belt and Road Arbitration Initiative Agreement having CRCICA as the Institutional Representative of Africa.
